"
Our convictions determine how we live, we
are what we believe"
| |
We
believe it is fundamental that we have
a clear understanding of the fundamentals
of Christ’s doctrine as our convictions
determine our way of life. |
|
|
|
- We
believe the Bible is God’s true and real Word.
- There
is only one God, who manifests himself as Father,
Son and Holy Spirit.
- Jesus
Christ is the eternal God, born in flesh to come
to Earth.
-
- When Jesus
died, he descended to the deepest depth, suffering
in our place.
-
-
- We have a personal
enemy named Satan.
-
-
- The spirit
that dwells in the believer enables them to live
a holy life that displays the fruits of the Holy
Spirit, and enables the believer to lay hands on
sick and heal them, speak in new tongues and cast
out demons.
- The believer needs to receive the
baptism in the Holy Spirit with the evidence of
speaking in tongues or groans that words cannot
express (Rom 8:26), enabling them to move in the
gifts of the Spirit, which must be put into practice
in the Church today.
-
- We understand that a real Christian
is one who submits to the governance and authority
of Jesus Christ, whose will is stated in the Holy
Bible, being the Lord who leads every action and
life, yielding to his authority.
-
-
-
- Jesus Christ is and will be the
only head of the Church and in Him we build more
than seven fundamentals.
-
- The five ministries at work in
the Church today exist in the same way they did
in the early Church.
-
- We
understand God has put leaders, elders and ministers
to serve, look after, feed, discipline and guide
His people, the final goal being to achieve perfection
in the believers.
- It’s
our duty to evangelise the whole world.
1.
We
believe the Bible is God’s true and real
Word
It
is the only statement of God to His children
in which we can understand His will and find
his promises and legacies (John 5:39; Romans
15:4; 2 Timothy 3:15-16; Hebrew 4:12; 2 Peter
1:19-21; 1 Corinthians 10:8 and 11) The foundations
of our beliefs lay upon the Bible, which we
understand as God’s heritage given to
men, through which we can clearly understand
God’s heart, will and purposes. We understand
that the Scripture is useful and effective for
rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness
to all man, regardless of his state, race or
social position. We understand that it is not
for private interpretation and all who come
sincerely may understand the truth that comes
from it.
2.
There is only one God,
who manifests himself as Father, Son and Holy
Spirit.
John 1:1; John 4:24; John 14:8.9; Romans 9:5;
1 John 5:7 and 20; Jude 24-25; Isaiah 9:6-7 We
believe in the existence of one God only, sovereign
and almighty, omniscient, omnipresent, immutable
and truthful. He has shown Himself through human
history as the Father in the Old Testament, as
Son in the Gospels and as Holy Spirit since the
book of Acts to the present day.
3.
Jesus Christ is the eternal
God, born in flesh to come to Earth.
John
1:4; John 14:8-9; 1 John 4:2; 1 John 5:20; Romans
9:5; Revelations 1:17-18 We understand that Jesus
Christ being God, renounced his divinity, taking
on human form and humbled himself to a death on
the cross; in this way he is the author of eternal
redemption for those who believe.
4.
Jesus Christ was born of a virgin
woman named Mary, who bore him in a supernatural
way by means of the Holy Spirit; and that Jesus
Christ lived without sin or stain.
Mathew 1:18-25; Luke 1:26-27; 2 Corinthians
5:21; Hebrews 4:15; Hebrews 7:26; Luke 23:14,15,
22 We understand that in Christ all of the prophecies
spoken by the old prophets many years ago were
fulfilled, and that it was necessary to have
a pure and holy lamb for his purpose to be accomplished:
the righteous died for the unrighteous.
5.
When
Jesus died, he descended to the deepest depth,
suffering in our place.
He
bound Satan for those who believe in Him, and
released him to fool nations; He defeated death
and was physically resurrected on the 3rd day;
and now is sitting in the throne of glory waiting
for His Church, with the help of the Holy Spirit,
to put his enemies under His feet; in order to
come back in the flesh, to separate all who accepted
Him from those who rejected Him. When
Jesus Christ died in the cross he suffered once
and for the sins of all humanity and by doing
this, He overthrew all principalities and powers
and defeated them, descending to the depths of
the Earth, preached to the imprisoned spirits
and was physically resurrected on the 3rd day,
presenting Himself alive with many indisputable
proofs. The Lord did this profound act out of a
real love for all creation. Establishing his reign
and in hope that His Church guided by Him will
accomplish her duty to make the mercy of the gospel
known to all people and nations.
Daniel 3:35-44; Matthew 6:9-10; Isaiah 9:7; Colossians
1:13
We understand God is, has been and will
always be King, the one who rules with authority
and justice. We all have the opportunity to decide
if we want Him to reign in our lives and as more
and more people choose the Kingdom of God, it
will keep growing until all the Earth is fulfilled
with His glory.
7.
We
believe that after this life, there is an
eternal place prepared for the faithful
believers and a place of judgment for those
who rejected the truth and loved darkness.
John 14:2; Mark 9:42-46; 2 Thessalonians
1:7-9
Every person who dies without recognizing Jesus
Christ in his life and was not willing to obey
the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ with their
heart will suffer eternal judgement separated
from the presence of God, unlike those whose hearts
were to believe with faith in Jesus Christ who
will live eternally in His presence.
8.
We have a personal enemy named
Satan.
Matthew 4:1-11; Ephesians 6:12; 1 Peter
5:6
Known as father of lies, deceiving
nations and keeping them from knowing God, his
thoughts are always evil and his purpose is to
steal, kill and destroy.
9.
Everybody has sinned, and the only
way to be clean from sin is trough the faith in
the blood that Jesus Christ poured out at the cross
for the sins of the world. Nobody can save themselves
unless they repent from their sins and confesses
with their mouth that .
Isaiah 64:6; Ephesians 2:8-9; Romans 3:10-24;
Romans 5:1; Romans 6:23; Isaiah 53:4-12;
1 Thessalonians 5:23.
Everyone has acted against God’s
will, which has created a barrier between God
and men and the only way to be freed from the
slavery to sin and break all barriers is through
faith in the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, which
he made as payment for our sins and crimes. We
all need a saviour, none can be justified in front
of God by their good deeds. What Jesus did in
the cross gives us complete sanctification: for
our spirit, soul and body.
10.
The believer must be baptized
in water in the name of the Father, the Son
and the Holy Spirit/ in the Lord Jesus Christ.
Mathew 28:19; Mark 16:16; Acts 2:38; Romans
6:1-5
Baptism must be preceded by: true
repentance from our sins and surrender through
faith in Jesus Christ. By doing this the believer
identifies himself with the death and resurrection
of Christ and they choose to die to their old
way of living, starting to live a new life. The
name of the Father is “Lord”, the
Son is “Jesus” and the Holy Spirit
is “Christ”, that is to say the anointing
or charisma through which they are baptised in
the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit
or baptizing in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ
is the same.
11.
The spirit that dwells in the believer
enables them to live a holy life that displays the
fruits of the Holy Spirit, and enables the believer
to lay hands on sick and heal them, speak in new
tongues and cast out demons.
Ephesians 3.17; 1 Corinthians 1:2; Mathew 7:19;
John 15:8; Galatians 5:22-23; Mark 16:17-18
We understand that by confessing Christ
as the only Lord and Saviour, He comes to inhabit
in the heart of every believer, setting him apart
for the Lord only (which is the true meaning of
the word ‘holy’). Helping him to develop
the fruits of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience,
kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and
self-control. As well as this, having access to
the gifts of the Spirit that makes us capable
to pray for the sick so they can be healed and
to cast out demons.
12.
The
believer needs to receive the baptism in the
Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking
in tongues or groans that words cannot express
(Rom 8:26), enabling them to move in the gifts
of the Spirit, which must be put into practice
in the Church today.
John 14:16-17; Acts 1:5; Acts 2:1-4; Acts 8:17;
Acts 10:44-46; Acts 19:6; Romans 8:26; 1 Corinthians
12:4-11
Every believer must be baptized
in the Holy Spirit, which means to be re-clothed
with the Holy Spirit, receiving the supernatural
ability to move in the gifts of the spirit by
this act of faith: words of wisdom, words of
knowledge, faith, healing, miraculous powers,
prophecy, distinguishing between spirits, speaking
in tongues and interpretation of tongues. This
equips today’s Church to carry out the
labour of spreading the Gospel efficiently.
13.
The current Christian life must be
characterized by being full of joy, justice and
peace. We believe that living as a Christian is
pleasant, and that God’s will for His children
is that they are prosperous in everything they do
and that they are healthy. A true Christian way
of life is attractive to sinners and leads them
to repentance.
Romans 14:17; Romans 12:2; 3 John 1:2; Mark
7:24-25
We believe that God’s will towards His children
is good, pleasant and perfect, being God’s
desire for all His children to have a full and
happy life, and it is His will for them to prosper
in everything and to be in health as their soul
prospers. We understand that the believer should
not be contentious when opinions differ, but be
kind and humble, willing to share biblical truths
with the desire to spread hope to people’s
lives. And to be like Christ, bringing sinners
close, not rejecting them or judging them.
14.
We understand that a real Christian
is one who submits to the governance and authority
of Jesus Christ, whose will is stated in the Holy
Bible, being the Lord who leads every action and
life, yielding to his authority.
Romans 13:1-5; 1 Corinthians 11:3, 1 John 1:3-8;
John 15:7
The behaviour of a true Christian is characterized
a total submission to the authority of Jesus Christ,
as revealed in the Holy Scriptures through his
commandments, these being the criterion which
leads their behaviour. We believe that a believer
must submit to the civil government of each country,
this submission being the obedience of law and
rules, paying taxes, respecting the authorities
and honouring the patriotic symbols of each nation.
15.
As
believers subject to Scripture we do not take
part in that which the Bible expressly forbids.
Leviticus 19:31; Deuteronomy 18:10-12; Revelations
21:8; Galatians 5:19-21
We understand that the Bible forbids every
believer to take part in acts/activities
such as:
-
Cults,
consultation, invocation and/or worship
of dead.
-
Any
kind of fortune-telling, occultism,
witchcraft, parapsychology, horoscopes,
mind control, transcendental meditation,
yoga, or any other philosophy other
than or against the Scriptures.
-
- Religious celebrations or
festivities not recorded or supported in the
Bible.
16.
We believe that a believer
needs to attend meetings at their local Church
regularly and punctually.
Hebrews
10:24-25
We understand this as a need for personal
growth and spiritual development, attending church
meetings with the aim of getting equipped to live
for God and the others who surround us.
17.
We believe that the Church
was founded by our Lord Jesus Christ and that
it must be thought of as a congregation of
believers, rather than an administrative organization.
Church must be erected and ruled by a model
presented in the Bible, where Christ is the
maximum authority .
Mathew 16:18, Acts 20:28; Ephesians 5:23;
Romans 12:4-5; Colossians 1:28; 1 Corinthians
1:2
Church is founded upon Jesus Christ and
consists of every believer that calls upon
the name of Jesus Christ.
18.
Jesus
Christ is and will be
the only head of the Church
and in Him we build more
than seven fundamentals:
a) Repentance, b) Faith,
c) Baptism, d) Laying
on of hands, e) resurrection
of the dead, f) eternal
judgement, g) growing
in perfection
Ephesians 1:22; Ephesians
4:14; Colossians 1:18, Colossians
2:10; Hebrew 6:1-2
Local Church must be deep-rooted
and well founded in the doctrine
of Christ and from there, every
believer should continue to
grow towards perfection.
Up
19.
For the local Church
to function properly, four basic fundamentals
must be in play:
Acts
2:42-47
1)
apostles’ teaching
2) communion
3) breaking of bread
4) prayers
These four elements focus on the communion
of the believer with God and with others
in the Church. We understand the Church’s
purpose to be:
1)
Help other to be reconciled to God
and experience a new life.
2) Help heal the
wounds that living in the world has
given.
3) Help others to find the purpose
for their lives.
4) Help to equip them
for their purpose.
5) Send them to their
community to be of blessing for those
around them.
20.
The five ministries at work in
the Church today exist in the same way they did
in the early Church.
Ephesians 4:11-15; Titus 1:5-9; 1 Timothy 2:12;
1 Corinthians 11:10
The five ministries described in the Bible
(apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and
teachers) are purposed to equip the saints to
fulfil the work of the ministry, thus perfecting
the believer.
21.
We believe
that there haven’t been, aren’t and
will not be any female apostles, prophets, evangelists,
pastors or teachers according to Ephesians 4.11.
At Centro de Vida Cristiana we have a
large number of women serving in leadership
positions. Nontheless, according to Ephesians
4:11, there should not be female apostles,
prophets, evangelists, pastors or teachers.
22.
We understand God has put leaders, elders and
ministers to serve, look after, feed, discipline
and guide His people, the final goal being to
achieve perfection in the believers.
Ephesians 4:11-15; Titus 1:5-8; Colossians 1:28
We understand the purpose of the Church
is to help every believer to find a place where
he can be useful to God and the community. Encouraging
others to place God in the first place in their
lives, and therefore, being of use to others.
The final goal is to walk in the likeness of Jesus
Christ.
23.
It’s
our duty to evangelise the whole world.
Mathew 28:20; Ezekiel 3:17-18; Romans 10:8-15,
2 Corinthians 5:18-21
We understand our responsibility as believers
is to transmit the Gospel to every race, culture
and nation, encouraging them to submit themselves
to the Lord Jesus Christ.
